another years rolled around like a toy top
a merry go round trip back to the start
always tossing to and fro then up and down
never knowing where we'll go this time round'

last year it was somewhere else
before then got stuck in my own cell
and the further back i looked
turns out even less was understood

got bad directions n' lost the bearing
stumbled somewhere near the river
grabbed my shovel and dug a hole
knee deep in shit tryin' to build a home

another town another face became another tried and true disgrace
